# What is Wren Memory?

Have you ever talked to a bot and felt annoyed because it forgets what you said five minutes later? Wren fixes that problem with Proactive Memory!

## How it works

When you talk to Wren, it actively listens for important information. If you say something that sounds like a long-term fact, Wren will save it to its database.

For example, if you say:

> "Hey Wren, I am the owner of this server and my favorite color is blue."

Wren will quietly save two facts:

1. You are the server owner.
2. Your favorite color is blue.

The next time you talk to Wren, even days later, it will load these facts into its brain before it replies to you.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Server Rules:** Wren memory is especially great for server rules. If an admin tells Wren "Rule 1 is no spamming," Wren will remember that forever and can help enforce it!
{% endhint %}

## Can I tell it to forget?

Yes! Because Wren understands natural language, you can just tell it to forget something. For example, "Wren, I don't like the color blue anymore, my favorite color is red." Wren will update its memory banks automatically.

It's just like talking to a real assistant!

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://wren.atriasafety.org/guides-and-faq/what-is-wren-memory.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
